In Memoriam
Richard J. LeGaye
IPMS/Emerald
City Modelers of Wichita, Kansas morn the loss of their long-time friend and
fellow modeler Richard LeGaye (#32997). Richard's service in the U.S. Coast
Guard throughout the 1970s was reflected in his love for modeling USCG subjects.
His time spent living in South Florida also instilled in him an affection for
the classic airliners that he watched fly in and out of the airports surrounding
Miami. Richard's enthusiasm for the diminutive 1/144 scale and the clean,
colorful lines of airliners lives on in the club members that he inspired to
"scale down" and give up "hard points" on wings. As Editor
of the club's newsletter, The Oz Report, Richard was the embodiment of Emerald
City Modelers for many years.
Richard lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on March 22, 2008. Emerald
City Modelers will miss him deeply.
In tribute to Richard, Emerald City Modelers has established a new award
category that will be a part of the annual OzCon contest and show beginning in
2008.
